Alpha-ville News Post Events Report

MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who came along and took part on the events on Saturday 6th October, it was an overwhelming response after months of preparation.
The ALPHA-VILLE SCREENING DOUBLE BILL took place at Hackney Picturehouse and featured an eclectic selection of moving image works. The Future of Moving Image Award 2012 winners were revealed by London Short Film Festival director Philip Ilson:

Alpha-ville presents a full day celebrating the richness of the digital culture in Hackney on Saturday 6th October 2012. Head over to Hackney Central/London Fields area to discover the day, use the journey planner to get travel information. If you make it early enough we recommend that you visit the lovely local market Broadway Market.
The events take place in 2 venues: Hackney Picturehouse and Hackney Empire. As you can see from the picture below, both venues are across the road, both in Mare Street, just by the Hackney Town Hall.

Alpha-ville would not be possible with the dedication and enthusiasm of it’s volunteers. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and hard-working volunteers to help us deliver our October events. Volunteering with Alpha-ville is a fun and rewarding way to gain insight into running events and a great way to network and gain industry contacts.
We are looking for volunteers for the following roles:

Shooting People are supporting Bombay Sapphire and Tribeca Film Festival’s worldwide Imagination Series competition, which will give five filmmakers the chance to make their own short film using a script written by Oscar-winner Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious). The script is stripped of all direction so the idea is to use your imagination and transform his story into anything you want.

ALPHA-VILLE IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
2012 has been a busy year for the Alpha-ville team. In the last months the preparations were slowed down due to delays and shortage in funding from various sources, both public and private. After analysing the situation carefully, we have identified that these issues will affect the delivery and quality of the festival. For these reasons we have decided that it is not viable to run the festival as planned for October 2012.

Located in a creative building just a few minutes from Broadway Market and London Fields in Hackney our studio lives in Netil House – a hub of creative small businesses with a cafe, 2 x terraces and events space. Netil was featured in TimeOut.
The studio is located in the second floor and can accommodate up to 5 people. You will share the space with the Alpha-ville team. Each desk measures 120 x 60 cm and we have some storage in the corridor. There is a kitchen area and toilets in the corridor. The building also offers access with security 24hrs.

Alpha-ville announces the dates of the 4th edition of its annual International Festival of Post-Digital Culture that will take place from 3rd to 7th October in several London locations. International Cities of Advanced Sound (ICAS) is an independent network of non-profit organisations worldwide dedicated to advancing sound, music and related arts. Amongst its members CTM (Berlin), Mutek, Unsound (Krakow), FutureEverything (Manchester), TodaysArt (The Hague), Decibel (Seattle) and many more exciting events that we deeply admire.
