Bombay Sapphire Imagination Series: Short Film Competition in association with Shooting People
Shooting People are supporting Bombay Sapphire and Tribeca Film Festival’s worldwide Imagination Series competition, which will give five filmmakers the chance to make their own short film using a script written by Oscar-winner Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious). The script is stripped of all direction so the idea is to use your imagination and transform his story into anything you want.
Bombay Sapphire and Tribeca Film Festival have teamed up to offer five burgeoning filmmakers a once in a lifetime opportunity, using their imagination to interpret a short film script created by Academy Award winner, Geoffrey Fletcher.
A global film initiative, The Imagination Series wants young filmmakers around the world to rouse the dormant filmmaker within them and envision a film treatment for Geoffrey Fletcher’s 70 word script. Absent of any direction, you’ll need to bring Fletcher’s script to life using your chosen genre, your locations, your characters and most importantly, your imagination.
An international judging panel, including Geoffrey Fletcher and other industry leaders assembled by the Tribeca Film Festival, will select five lucky winners from a shortlist of entries. While there are some specific entry requirements, the main judging criteria will be on how vividly you use your imagination in the concepts submitted.
Besides the rare experience of working with film industry folk at the top of their game, the Imagination Series rewards each winner’s imagineering with the budget to make their film and bring it to the big screen by Bombay Sapphire. Each film will be premiered at a star-studded international premier in early 2013.
Submit your treatment for the Imagination Series competition through JOTTA by 5pm on Tuesday July 24th for your chance to win a Canon 650D. The lucky winner will be drawn on Wednesday 25th at 10am.
CEL: a fundraiser for the Animate Collection
Animate Projects has launched CEL, an online fundraising project to raise money to keep the essential Animate Collection online.
Through the sale of limited edition prints of original artworks that have been donated by Animate commissioned artists they aim to raise the £5,000 needed to cover the direct costs of maintaining the Animate Collection and keep animateprojects.org live over the next year.
Animate Projects is the only charity in the UK dedicated to championing experimental animation. The Animate Collection comprises over 200 films, with related production materials, and contextual interviews and critical writing. Alongside work by many key figures in contemporary British animation, new commissions and acquired films have added to the Collection over the past five years, building on its status as the primary online space and living archive for experimental animation.
